Motorists travelling through Park Lane, Hatherton, are being advised to allow extra time today (April 14 2026) as Cheshire East highways teams carry out a major programme of pothole repairs.

Traffic management is in place with one lane closed while crews repair 68 potholes along the route.

A highways worker on site told The Ruralist that the scale of the work reflects the number of defects identified on the carriageway, with repairs concentrated on a single lane. Although there are an extensive number of potholes to repair, work is expected to be completed by 15:30, or earlier.

The work forms part of Cheshire East Council's ongoing highway maintenance programme, which aims to improve road safety and extend the life of the road surface. The council advises motorists to expect temporary delays while repairs are completed and encourages drivers to check the latest roadworks information before travelling.

Park Lane is a well-used rural route linking Hatherton with the surrounding villages, and drivers are asked to take extra care when approaching the works and to follow any temporary traffic management in place.
