Audlem Parish Council has released a statement this morning asking the public to refrain from online speculation about the future of Audlem Grammar School, after comments appeared on social media.
In the statement, released on 1 September 2026, Audlem Parish Council has asked residents not to publish ownership research, legal arguments or other background material online, saying disclosure could prejudice enforcement. Instead, it is requesting dated photographs and evidence privately through the clerk.
This morning's statement also confirmed that there is no planning application, no Listed Building Consent application and no HMO (House in Multiple Occupation) licence application.
An ongoing investigation into building works on the site started in July 2026, when Cheshire East Council opened a planning enforcement case following concerns about the removal of trees and hedgerow.
On 12 August, Cheshire East Council served a Listed Building Temporary Stop Notice to “all relevant parties” to prevent further unauthorised works to the Grade II* listed building while enquiries continued.
