Aston Cricket Club will host its annual Comedy and Curry Night at Wrenbury Village Hall on Saturday 7 March 2026, with award-winning comedian Paul Tonkinson headlining the bill.

The fundraiser will also feature musical comedy duo, The Boys From The All Night Chemist along with experienced comic Karen Bayley acting as compere for the evening.

Originally from Yorkshire, Tonkinson is a former double Time Out Comedian of the Year and supported Michael McIntyre on his Comedy Arena Tour in 2023.

Bayley has been a regular on the UK comedy circuit for more than two decades. She reached the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2003, and has appeared on TV shows such as The Last Word, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Celebrity Juice.

The club’s Social Secretary, Rob Earl, who has organised the event for the past twenty years said the fundraiser plays a vital role in supporting the club.

“I was involved with the cricket club from the very start, when the roof was leaking and the shed was falling down,” he said. “We began hosting these events to help bring it back again. The money raised is essential for maintaining and improving the club for the whole community to enjoy.”

“Wrenbury Village Hall is an intimate venue with a great atmosphere, and we’ve always tried to keep ticket and bar prices as reasonable as possible.”

Tickets are now on sale and available to buy from committee members. See the Wrenbury Village Hall website for more details.
