Distance runners will once again lace up their trainers for the South Cheshire 20 on Sunday 6 September, with the popular race taking competitors on a demanding loop through some of South Cheshire's most picturesque countryside.

Organised by South Cheshire Harriers, the annual event starts and finishes at Shavington Leisure Centre, with runners setting off at 9am.

The 20-mile course is renowned for its rolling terrain rather than flat, fast running. Winding along quiet country lanes, the route showcases the changing landscape of rural Cheshire as it passes through the villages of Weston, Englesea Brook, Betley, Wrinehill, Shraleybrook, Audley and Barthomley, before returning via Weston to Shavington.

For local residents, the race offers an opportunity to cheer on hundreds of runners as they make their way through the countryside, with many spectators traditionally gathering in village centres and along the route.

The event has become a well-established fixture in the regional running calendar and forms part of the North Staffordshire Road Runners Association (NSRRA) series, attracting competitors from across Cheshire and neighbouring counties.

Finishers will receive a commemorative medal, goody bag and refreshments, while complimentary race photographs will once again be provided by Bryan Dale of RacePhotos.org.uk.

The race is also proudly sponsored by Running Bear, the Cheshire-based specialist running retailer.

Entries remain open until 1 September, giving runners just over a month to secure a place on one of Cheshire's best-known long-distance road races.
