Firefighters were called to a smouldering van in a field off Coole Lane, near Audlem, on Friday morning (1 May).

The charred ground left by the vehicle fire.

One crew from Nantwich attended the scene at around 8:08am, where they found the vehicle had been completely burnt out and was still smouldering.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for remaining hotspots before damping the vehicle down with a hose reel.

One local resident said the police were in attendance at around 08:00am and the vehicle was removed at approximately 10:00am.

They went on to say, “It's worrying. You think nothing happens in the countryside but then this happens.”

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

Enquiries are ongoing.
